Thorn and Bone is an independent publication launched in August 2026 by Rena Aliston, a writer of crime thrillers, horror, and science fiction stories as well as a gothic poet. Here you'll find poems, stories, behind-the-scenes content, as well as updates on forthcoming releases.

Writer

Rena Aliston is a gothic writer and poet specializing in noir crime fiction infused with occult themes. Her debut series, Xander Walsh, blends hardboiled detective storytelling with atmospheric suspense and esoteric symbolism, exploring complex themes of trauma, identity, and the supernatural.

In addition to her fiction, she is an accomplished dark poet known for her evocative verses that delve into the shadowy facets of human experience.

When not chasing elusive leads through swampy back roads or unraveling cryptic symbols, Rena immerses herself in dark music and cinema and embraces life as a devoted dog mom and small business owner. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, she currently resides in Kentucky.

Artist

Wayuką is an Indigenous and woman-owned business based in Louisville, Kentucky. Having a strong DIY work ethic, she focuses her handmade and digital designs on her ancestry (Yesą, German).

When not crafting and designing, she enjoys archery, gardening, genealogy and spending time with her family.
